Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Announces Support for Prop. 22

Prop. 22 Stops State Raids of Local Government and Transportation Funds and Protects Local Public Safety, Emergency Response, Transportation, Transit and Other Vital Local Services

Sacramento, CA –
The Yes on 22 campaign, Californians to Protect Local Taxpayers and Vital Services, announced today that the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce voted to endorse Prop. 22 on the November ballot. As the largest and most influential business association in Los Angeles County, the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce is the voice of business in the region.

Prop. 22 is supported by more than 200 public safety, local government, transportation, business, labor, taxpayer and public transit leaders, would. Click

“Local governments provide the services that are essential to local business development and economic growth,” said Gary L. Toebben, president and CEO of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce. “Businesses depend on good roads, utility and water hookups, public safety, mass transit, and other local services to ensure continued success. On top of that, quality of life services at the local level, like libraries, parks and more, are critical to attracting and keeping employees. Unfortunately, these services have been cut back in recent years, in large part due to state raids of local funds. Sacramento’s continued raiding of local and transportation funds must end, that’s why the LA Chamber is supporting Prop. 22.”

For too long, Sacramento politicians have used loopholes in the law to take billions in taxpayer funds dedicated to local  government and transportation services. Continued State raids jeopardize the vital local services we rely upon, like emergency response, police, fire, parks, libraries and senior services.

Yes on 22 will:

•    STOP the State from taking or borrowing local tax dollars dedicated to cities and counties to fund vital local services like 9-1-1 response, police, and fire protection.

•    STOP the State from taking or diverting gas taxes we pay at the pump that voters have dedicated to local road repairs, transportation improvements, and public transportation.
